Locked Cingular Treo 650
Hi,
Had a question.
If I get a Locked GSM Treo 650 from Cingular, can I unlock it so that it could be used with any GSM Carrier in the world by just inserting the SIM Card?
The Unlocked Phone from Palm at $599 is way too costly to afford buying it.....
Any answers would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The only way to unlock it would be to call Cingular and ask them. Some have had success going this route by explaining they needed to use the phone internationally -- and the roaming charges would be very high.
There's no guarantee that Cingular will unlock it though -- that's the reason the unlocked carries the high price tag.

Treo 600
Are Unlocked Treo 600s available on Palms website and for how much?
But I think they dont even have a Bluetooth built in and ofcourse no WiFi.
Looks like they are also no longer available on Palm.

Correct, they are not available through Palm. However, you could probably find one on eBay (if you're comfortable with eBay). Directions for unlocking a Treo 600 can easily be found on the web.

eBay
Have never got anything from eBay before...Normally i prefer to get such things right from the source, because if something is wrong with the product theres a return/exchange policy...
But I really appreciate your inputs...
I will just keep my eyes open for other options at the moment and see if I can afford something similar to Treo 650, else will just be contended with the cell for a while before other phones pour in the market.
Let see......
Thanks much for your feedback!

I understand and I do the same when making purchases online. I'd choose a reputable online retailer over eBay any day. I do find eBay useful for items that are no longer available or that I can find a good deal on used. I only buy from those with great feedback.

If you can hang in a bit longer, I'm sure we'll see price drops on the 650 when the 700 hits the market.

I Just Wish........
that this price drop happens by December, as by December end I will be gone from the USA as I would be returning back to India for good after working here in New York doing Software Development for 6 yrs.....Just too tired.
Will wait and see till then if my mind forces me to get this Treo thing either from Palm or from eBay...
