Default Mac sign up for wireless email address

Just bought my Treo 650 and am unable to connect or sign in on my Safari browser. I was registered by phone but when I got home the site would not accept my sign in. Also cannot find software to connect my email address to my treo.

Would appreciate some guidance from an experiences Mac 650 user.

    1. Did you sign up for a data plan with your mobile/wireless service provider?

    2. Which wireless company?

    3. Snappermail -- www.snappermail.com supports pop and imap for
most mail providers including yahoo and google mail....

Default Configure Dot Mac Email With Treo 650 & Snappermail

Yes, Snappermail will work. You can configure your outgoing email using the .mac servers. This normally does not work with the cable companies. On my Mac at home, I'm using outgoing. optonline.net, but use mail.mac.com for my Treo.

    Dave,

Chris is right -- Snappermail will work with .mac.

BTW: .mac has SMTP servers for outgoing mail.

    I took these notes from:

    http://www.snappermail.com/support/isp.cfm

    Mac.com

For POP3 access, in your SnapperMail Server Account settings (Edit Accounts | Server), enter the following:

    POP3 Server: mail.mac.com
    Username: [your username]
    Password: [your password]

    SMTP Server: smtp.mac.com
    Username: [your username]
    password: [your password]

If you want to set up SnapperMail to use IMAP (instead of POP3) for connecting to your account, you can do that as well. This information requires (for IMAP capability) that you have SnapperMail Enterprise edition installed on your device. In your SnapperMail server account settings (Menu | Accounts | Edit Accounts | (choose account) | Server), enter the following:

    IMAP Server: mail.mac.com
    Username: [your username]
    Password: [your password]

    SMTP Server: smtp.mac.com
    Username: [your username]
    Password: [your password]

IMPORTANT: Tap the "More" button at the bottom of the screen.

    For IMAP4 Settings:
    - Set the "Use SSL" dropdown to "Always Secure (wrapped port)"
    - Accept the defaults for all of the other gadgets.
    For SMTP Settings:
    - Set the "Use SSL" dropdown to "Always Secure (STARTTLS)"
    - Activate the "Always trust server" checkbox.
    - Accept the defaults for all of the other gadgets.

It has been suggested by some users to activate the "Sync unread mail only" checkbox in the Edit Accounts "Rules" tab for best performance.
    ---

    Hope this helps....

Thanks to both of you for the guidance. It looks complicated to get done and I have worked hard to become my own "IT" guy since retirement but boy, what an effort. I underappreciated the folks at work who kept us all up and running on our computers.

I may get back to you as I try to understand all you have written as instructions.

    Really appreciative of the help.
