Default Minitones problems.

I have recently added the minitones app to my Treo 650. After I trim a song and select to add the trimmed song to available ringers it reboots my Treo. When the Treo boots back up the the trimmed song was not added. I have tried music tones also and I have the same problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried another file? Also, just a bit of a note here. The Treo 650 does not have a lot of memory and the use of tones in the manner you are wanting is going to have an effect on the available memory on your device. You will definitely see better service if you use a card based ring tone management application.

I have tried several different songs. Nothing seems to work. Could you give me an example of a card based ring tone management application please?

I also used Minitones on a 650 with no problems. I made 7 ringers with it and they all resided in RAM. Now do you keep the actual Minitones program and the .mp3 song that you want to trim on the card? that is where they need to be. Then when you are done trimming the tune down to 30 SECONDS, click ADD and minitones drops it into the ringtone folder.

some are mring or ringo or ringo pro??? Did a search for ringer apps and some had problems with mring. They were old threads so problems maybe fixed now. Check out there sites and besure they will do what you want before you buy.

Ring tones are fun; however, ring tones use lots of memory and on some devices, such as the 650, that memory is better off being used by something more productive. A ring tone may not seem like it is large, but after adding several, the memory used can become significant.

A card based ring tone management application provides the same service; however, the files are retained on the card and what is on the device: the application itself and index files with the index files being MUCH smaller than the file on the card.

There are bunches and bunches of card based ring tone management applications. There are great ones and there are so-so ones and there is one that was GREAT in the past but not so hot nowadays.

Applications: LightWav - does it all. RingCare, CallBlock, mRing, Ringo are others. I have licenses for RingCare and CallBlock and use RingCare exclusively. I have used LightWav (too many options but it works great); mRing (not impressed by the interface); and Ringo (did not work for me, but there are those that it works for). Then there is CallFilter - back in the days of the 600, it was the king; however, the developer stopped and it has fallen to the wayside big time. If you purchase CallFilter, then be prepared for NO support at all.

From a support view, LightWav and CallFilter are the best supported and see the most frequent updates.

Give them a test and save yourself some RAM.

I tried Lightwav and it just doesn't seem as easy to use as minitones. I almost willing to try anything to get it to work.

LightWav may be a bit complicated, though it is very versatile. RingCare is another good one to try. The 650 just does not have the memory resources.
