Misc. questions from newbie
Hi guys,
As I told you all before I will likely become a frequent "poster." I have a bunch of misc. questions...
1. I am trying to assign buttons and the instructions from the manual tell me that there should be "Favorites" option on my "Main" page (I assume they mean the page that has the Dial Pad) but under my dial pad are the options are Contact, Voicemail, Camara, Web, Solutions, & Store. I would like to add things to this main menu such as Messaging, & Call log (which I have no idea how to access) but have no idea how to do it. HELP PLEASE:eek: !!!
2. Can I view word documents on this phone or do I have to purchase a 3rd party application? What is "Word To Go?"
3. Can I recieve emails from my treo in "real time"? Does the treo "push" the emails or are they downloaded when I HotSynch?
Thanks so much in advance!

Use the down arrow of the center navigation while in the phone application. You'll see more buttons -- mine had Messaging, Voice Dial, Xpress Mail, Directory Assist, etc. Just navigation using the 4 way nav pad to a blank button and press the center when your ready to assign something to it. You can add a speed dial OR set it up as a shortcut to a favorite application.

Yes. Word To Go I believe is part of the Documents To Go application.

You can set up your email application to check your email on specific intervals. I use Snappermail and often have it set to check every 5 minutes -- that's me and my obsessive compulsive nature. It's guaranteed that I'll never miss any important spam with that feature. I'm sure the pre-installed VersaMail has a similar feature. Most email app's do.

Regarding the Call Log -- just press the phone icon while in the phone application and the log comes up.
Also, go to preferences (press the Everythingtreo house:D) scroll to Prefs and select Buttons which is under Personal. You can program the buttons and set up the Opt-Button for additional application shortcuts. The option key is the blue key -- bottom left.

click on an empty button and hit the menu button. choose edit and select the function. You can't delete the preset buttons without a third party software such as Filez. I don't like the preset buttons because it's easy to accidently hit them. I moved them to the back page.

Your Treo should have come with Documents to Go which will allow you to view Word, Excel and Powerpoint files.

Short answer, yes. You will need to install software on your desktop or talk to you IT personnel about your work server. Wife has it and whenever she gets an email, a copy is sent to her Treo as it is recieved by the server.
