If you use Minitones, they're stored in RAM. On the 650, you have 23MB of RAM, so a few ringtones will chew it up pretty quick. If you use one of the commercial ringtone apps like mRing or Ringo Pro, then you can store the ringtones on your SD card.

Minitones is great. It's free and is does not slow down or interfere with other apps.
It's great if you have an mp3 on your sd card and you want to cut a few seconds out and use as your ringtone. The trim function is built in.

BUT, since it stores the clips on the treo memory internal, you don't want to have too many mp3 clips saved.

If you want to on the fly be able to choose a bunch of songs, you need to goto the other apps.

You might need to load the songs after you installed the program. You might try to move the songs with a file manager like filez.

    hm ok great thanks.

seems like with the 700p you need alot of programs just for one program to work.

Minitones is freeware so may not have all the bells and whistles of more expensive programs.

I just noticed that you have a 700p not a 650. Probably no deference in the two but you might try the 700p forum for more info on your treo.

I was excited that I might possibly be able to transfer the mp3 ringtones via blutooth to my Treo. I got spoiled from my RazrV3 of knowing who was calling before even looking at the phone.

Anyway, downloaded & installed the minitones app to my phone, tried to blutooth an mp3 to my Treo, and it wouldn't transfer. Am I needing a SD card before I can do it? I have ordered one, but haven't received it yet.

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you can get them on your pc yes you can then transfer them via hot sync or a card reader. So if you can bluetooth your tones to your computer you ought to be able to sync them to your treo.

    Hello, total newb here.

Please explain if you would how I transfer the mp3 to phone. I'm trying to use the palmOne Quick Install and I cannot drag the desired mp3 from my computer to the "Handheld" box (I can drag and drop to the Expansion Card box, but I do not have an expansion card so that is not helping).

Also, how do I edit the mp3 to 30 seconds?

    Thank you,
    Scott
