mp3 ringtones

You need to make a short clip of your mp3. (around 30 secs in length) I believe you can load them on your card. Mini tones does move the file to your tones which is on your treo.
I have installed on the treo, minitones copies to the tones folder, then deleted the file from realplayer and it still works. The file ends up on the treo one way or the other.

i tried audacity to shorten a mp3 but i had a problem exporting the clip and i couldn't get it out of my pc. should i load my sd card with mp3s and then look for them with minitones when i put the sd card back inthe treo? i'm just unsure of how to use this app properly. i really just want to get rid of the dooky ringtones that came with the phone. they are kind of embarrassing!
thanks,

I believe you are going to have to get audacity or another program to shorten the mp3 to use as a ringtone, before you put it on your card. Once you have it on your card you should be able to use minitones to move it. I just use minitones to move the tone.
You can't copy or move the file? can you find it with Windows explorer?

I have not used audacity in windows. But can you copy/paste to your desktop or use windows explorer to find your modifies mp3 on your computer? If you can then you can move the file to your card or hotsync. In other words move your new ringtone out of audacity to install on the treo.
I did not use the card or sync to get my tones. I used a website to send a link and downloaded it from the net. Once it was downloaded (on my treo I think not the card) real player could play it. I then used minitones.

I just downloaded audacity. You will also need a lame file to export as an mp3. In audacity you import a file (mp3 format in this case) You set the start point to play and an end point. Once you know that is what you want I highlighted the rest of the song and deleted it. Then you go to file manager and export as an mp3 (in my case the desktop). I then could play it with windows media player and assume send it to my treo from there. These mp3s clips are smaller but still are 300-500 kbs in your treos memory.

but of course for me the lame file couldn't be found for me to export the file. that's usually how things run for me. i just find it difficult that i'm new and still out of my element with this. thanks for listening to my whine!

Tinal, I searched for audacity and where it said download free, under downloads it had a list of associated downloads. One was the lame file. I just downloaded it to my desktop. Then when it asked where the file is it is on your desktop.
