    Default Must haves

I just ordered a new unlocked unbranded treo 650 to use with my tmobile service... I'm excited to get it (should be sometime early-mid next week) and I'm just wondering what everyone views as the must haves, or must reads, or whatever I need to get up and running.

Currently all my PIM data is in iCal (Mozilla Sunbird) format, and I'd ideally like to stick with something compatible, but hey, I'm up for whatever gets me the most use out of this tool.

Also though, cases, protectors, styli, whatever... I'm just starting to dig through the forums right now so maybe I'll answer alot of my own questions, but very curious to read what anyone has to say.

Congratulations on your new 650. I'm sure you'll find the forums and the Everything Treo e-News as a good source of information. If you plan on using iCal, then you'll be using iSync. Definitely check out the Mac OS X and Treo forum. There is a lot of information there and feel free to post any questions you might have. If this is your first Palm device, then you'll have plenty to mess around with in the early going. I assume you've got a data plan with T-Mobile -- with your Treo, you'll be able to set schedules to check mail, surf the web (mobile sites such as Treomobile.com will work best). I'd definitely recommend checking out Mark/Space Missing Sync -- fantastic software for the Mac. Not only does it ease the sync process, it also allows you to mount your SD Card -- and have full integration with iTunes and iPhoto.

Not sure if T-Mobile would insure a Treo 650 -- considering they don't even carry it -- but I'd look into it. Either way, get yourself a good case -- if it's open faced then screen protectors are a good investment.

IMHO, one of the best things about the Treo 650 is bluetooth. No more wires. There are a number of headsets. I prefer the Sony Ericsson HBH-660. If you have questions about a headset, then you can always ask for feedback in the Bluetooth section of the forums.

Suffice to say, there's so much you can do with your Treo 650. Take it slow -- and enjoy the ride.

Actually I'm using it with a Windows computer (sometimes linux, but I figure I'll probably just do all the treo-computer hookup in windows.)... iCal is just the format of the calendar software.

I don't yet have a tmobile data plan, I figure I'd wait until I had the device to activate the plan, they tend to get plans in place in less than 12 hours so I'm not too worried, but no, they won't insure it, I guess that goes on my renters insurance or something of that sort.

And I'm totally digging the bluetooth, less for the headsets as for the ability to put my laptop online at the airport without tossing out a few bucks each time.... at least this link has me excited about that http://blog.treonauts.com/2005/02/unlocked_treo_6.html

And yes, it's my first palm device, heck my first PDA period.

Thanks for the info, anything extra you'd add since I'm on Windows and not mac? Will the included software be good enough for the synch now?

One question I have is what would you recommend for the SD card, I pretty much figure why not 1gig, but is that overkill?

No, you should be set. Most Palm apps offer free trials, so you can start to mess around with those - there are thousands!

Cool. Data rocks. I believe T-Mobile plans run around $25 or so for the "blackberry plan".

At the price of SD Cards, it's not bad to get a 1GB. I've been using a 256 and I'm actually upgrading to a 1GB. I'm reviewing the TomTom Bluetooth GPS System, so I'll be putting maps on the card. You can also use the card for extra applications, files, MP3's, photos...you name it.

I saw iApp and immediately thought Apple. I'm not sure if there is a conduit for iCal. Check with the developer.

    Default News about this?

Anybody have any new info about synching a treo (650) to an Ical Format On Windows?

I've tried to search on google, but i did not really found something helping me.

I think there's a need for that, the ical format is becoming a standard ... Used on mac, mozilla calendar (sunbird), i think in gmail also...

    Thanks for the help!
