    Default my 650 keeps reseting

my treo 650 keeps reseting itself at least 10x a day! Thats on a good day! I have not added any new programs or deleted any, PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW!! I love my treo (my 3rd one already) but it always does this when I need it the most. I will go to use it and will have a black screen so I hit a button a couple of times and it just resets. Sometimes it will do it in the middle of a call or text. Sometimes I will just be sitting here and it just reboots. ITS VERY ANNOYING!! Cause I dont get all my calls nor texts. People say I sent that to you or tried to call you but have no record of it cause its stuck!! HELP PLEASE! THANKS K.C.

    HiKC:

Sorry to hear of your trouble. Before jumping in, can you give us some background? Is this Treo new to you or have you had it for some time and it was fine until recently?

Is it a CDMA version or GSM, or who is your carrier? If a GSM version what brand and size SIM card are you using and was that transferred from a previous phone? When you say it is your third one, have you had to replace them for the same reason before? If it is new, did you buy it from a cell provider or was it from eBay or a third-party vendor? Was it a brand new unit or a refurbished?

When you got the phone did you sync it with your desktop and the problems began? Were your previous Treos synced to the same computer? What version of Palm Desktop are you using and was that the same you synced your previous devices with?

What, if anything have you tried to resolve the problem?> Have you done any of the various resets such as soft, hard, zero-out, etc? If you did resets did you sync again right after?

That information would give us a good starting point.

Yes, but all good points, especially the hard reset/sunk immediately afterwards.

What is this...Ben never says I make a good point. Are you two guys like Buddies or something??

Anyway KCmac3 did you get it fixed? Steves advice is good. Do your reset and use the phone for a day or two before you sync to see if the problems are gone. If they go away and come back after a sync you know you have a 3rd party conflict or some corrupt data..

well i baught it used but it was brand new if you know what I mean. the guy used it once and didnt like it. I baught it on craigslist and it looked new to me. when I first got it (before I synced it) it started rebooting. I am so sure that thats why the guy sold it and was not honest with me, and go figure i couldnt reach him after that. i love the treo's and will deal with but it is a pain in the butt!! Ive done a hard reset a soft reset and i never heard of a zero out??? and once i did all that i did sync it cause I have so much info there i need. So what do you think? sorry it took me awhile to get back, been out of town. and yes my other treo's where used to sync on the same computer and the same computer.

    Welcome back...

If I understand, the rebooting was occurring before syncing, correct?

Try a zero-out and the instructions can be found here (scroll to the end, next to the last topic). Note that the zero-out can be tricky and you may need a second pair of hands. Another ET member made a video that you can find here.

DO NOT sync and try the phone for a few days to see if it operates properly. If you still have the resetting then I am afraid you probably have a bad piece of hardware. I suppose it is possible someone tried to replace the main board or rebuild it and screwed it up. If you want you could check into a repair service. I have never used any, but I have heard good reports about a guy named Chris Short.

You know, I guess someone could have loaded the wrong software version for some reason. What is the phone brand and software version installed? Who is your carrier?
