my clumsy wife certainly has good timing!

Well at some point on saturday afternoon (11/4) I apparently had my 650 sitting on my bed somewhere. Well turns out my wife flipped the covers back or something and my phone flew off the bed and hit my trash can. being as I'm a clutz myself sometimes and she knows I've dropped it with no consequences before, she picked it up and put it in her purse on our way out the door. Well later that night i go to look for my phone to check my messages (thinking my phone was at home all day) and I find it next to my nightstand where she had put it back. Well lo and behold when I turn it on I notice that there are 6 cracks in my screen, 2 of which are from top to bottom!!!!!!!!!! She hadn't even noticed that it was broken when she picked it up. It sucks, but it was an accident, crap happens. BUT....it's looking like the 680 is coming real soon (hopefully this week) and she feels guilty enough for breaking it that she doesn't care if I put the money out for the new phone! :-) I know I could get a new screen on ebay, but for the cost of the screen, and the hassle of installing it myself (not knowing what I'm doing) it's probably worth the money for the (minor) upgrades, extra memory and the lack of antenna.

Hopefully you have insurance so you don't have to pay out of pocket for the 680. I may need a replacement pretty soon myself, I'm rough on my 650.

na....unfortunately I don't have the insurance. At the time I didn't think it was worth the $5 per month. but I think my contract might be up with Cingular soon anyway so I can probably just renew and get the cheaper price anyway

There you go. On the plus side, your wife can't exactly veto your new phone purchase...

and maybe this time around, you should get the insurance...never know when your wife is going to randomly make the bed
