| My phone is 'mute' now Not sure why suddenly my phone is 'mute'. I didn't drop it. What I remember is after I have change some sound preference, my phone is 'mute' since then. What I mean by 'mute' is when I call someone, I can't hear anything from the person who called me, even I change to loud-speaker.
I can only hear some when I use a wired headphone.
What should I do? It is some setting problem? or hardware problem which I need to send to repair?
However my phone still got alarm sound. |

| Hi:
Check to be sure your mute switch on the top is set properly. If it is you may be experiencing the dreaded "bad headphone jack" problem not uncommon to the 650.
However, when this problem occurs, you usually don't see the speakerphone option displayed.
There are numerous threads about this issue here at ET. Here is one, and here is another.
If those aren't enough, try searching the boards using "headphone jack" as your search term.
Some people have had luck using VolumeCare to bypass the problem. I had the problem with my first Treo three years ago and I haven't use a wired headset since....bluetooth only and I haven't had a problem.
Good luck,

| Steve, sorry about this OT post, but is there somewhere, perhaps a thread, in this forum that details how to set up the bluetooth option on the 650 so I can use bluetooth headphones. I have not purchased any yet, but I have not used a wired headset in fear of getting this headset issue. Many thanks for any help.

| Hey Dollface, I read where you just installed some third party stuff on your treo. If you have not used the hardwired jack and you have not dropped your baby I would look into the software. Do your backup and a hard reset to see if your speaker will work again.
Bluetooth is easy. Go to the bluetooth icon, set your phone to discoverable and bluetooth is on. Turn on your new headset and follow the instructions. Make it a trusted pair. Your device will have instructions or will provide a code (most codes are 0000) to imput into the treo.

| Oh no, I am not having a problem with any of my speakers, I merely said that I don't want to plug in headphones into the headphone jack so that I DON'T develop that dreaded headphone jack problem. All of my speakers work fine. I am looking at some bluetooth headphones, and may spring for one. I just bought Pocket Tunes over at Palm.com, they are having a 20% off sale and I just got it for $24!!

| Sorry I read the 1st post and thought it was you posting. Music over bluetooth may require the 2.0 that our 650's does not have installed. If I remember their was a work around to get music with bluetooth with a dongle or something...
Here is a thread http://www.everythingtreo.com/forum/...dset-4853.html

| I have read that a lot of these bluetooth headphones require that the phone have A2DP installed and I see files by that name in my main memory (using FileZ) does that mean someone installed that? I bought my phone used.

| For me case, I tried to use bluetooth but it doesn't work. When I make a call, I saw the bluetooth connected but only split second before it got disconnect. I tried a few times but still the same.
I have tried hard reset but still same problem, I can't hear anything when I make a call.
I think I gotta send it for repair.
Hopefully won't cost a lot. |

| A2DP and Softick's Audio Gateway ( http://softick.com/bluetooth-audio/) will get you music via Bluetooth. There are also some headsets that take multiple attempts at pairing before working - my H700 is that way, the 500 though is immediate.
