The best way to transfer mp3 files is to copy them to an SD card using a card reader attached to your PC. Another option is to use Card Export II or Card Reader to make your Treo appear to be a flash drive to Windows.

I just found a note while poking around on Palm.com, the downloadable version of Palm Desktop does NOT contain the media conduit, if you cant find the original disk, the media wont be sync'ed. You might be able to still add files, but a card reader would be faster.
Robert, I think you can download mp3 without the media conduit. The media is for pics and videos. When I downloaded mp3 to the treo (before card and reader) it would load the mp3 into real players lists. You are right in that a card and card reader is the way to go.
Also on the download you might not get docs to go and other apps,
