Default new guy on the block

Hello all Thanks for a super site to share info on the awesome treo device. I have been lurking around here for the last 4 weeks or so and this site helped me make my mind to purchase the treo 650 over the blackberry 7100 model with nextel(former nextelnuser) I was so amped about this treo 650 that I broke my contract to get this phoe. Now my question is how do I keep the events in my calender. It seems as though after 3-5 weeks the events automaticly erase. I need to be able to go back and see meeting dates, court dates and pre-filing confrences.. Thanks to those that reply and hopefully someone else has the same question....

I use Missing/Sync w/ the iApps, so I have different settings. However, I remember seeing preferences that allow you to sync previous dates within a certain date range. Not sure if this was in Now Up To Date/Contact or in Palm Desktop. Depending on which app you are syncing with, see if there are preferences for your sync.

Hi Miamitreo,
I know when you enter an event into the calendar, there is the details box at the bottom. Click that box and under REPEAT you should be able to say how long you want the evento to last; daily until..., everyweek, month, year etc. You click the one that helps you best.

I hope that helps.

Hi,

Are you losing them on your Treo and your desktop? I don't use the Palm Calendar anymore, switched to Agendus, but looked at the settings to see if there was an archiving or delete after a certain period option and I don't see one.

I was able to go back a few years in Calendar and see old meetings, etc. Wondering if there's a setup on the desktop app you're using that is set to delete/archive old events. That would explain why they're missing from your Palm as well.

I know you can hide/show completed Tasks but they're still in there, just hidden. If you're putting those items in Tasks and not Calendar then you may have it set not to show completed tasks. If so, in Tasks press the menu button, go to Options, then Preferences, and then select "Show Completed Tasks." I'm hoping this is the fix for you.

There's also a Purge option in Tasks but you'd have to actually perform that function and there's an option to keep an archive copy on the desktop should you use that feature.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. However, your mentioning court dates and filings has me wondering if this article I found a while back on using a Palm in the legal profession may be of some interest to you:

let me clear up this question. I enter my events in the calender. After 3-5 weeks they are deleted. What I need is to be able to look back in time to confirm dates and attendance.

Not sure if youre on a Mac or PC, but iCal on the mac has the option in the preferences-> advanced to erase the files after "X" days (or just turn it off to not erase).

If youre using any other calendar application I'm pretty sure it has a similar option somewhere. I doubt this deletion is coming from the Treo side.
