New Here Have Some Questions - Treo Forums

hi guys,

im currently running a sidekick 2, love the phone but its too much for a kid and i want apps that treo has to offer. a few questions are 1. can i still access my aol instant messanger all the time? do i have to pay for the app? can i still check multiple email accounts or do i need to purchase an app? how much would a 1 gig card run? whats the biggest card?? how much is it?? where can i buy it? also what are the "neccasary" programs i need for the phone that i have to buy??

i know this is alot of questions but any replies will be extremely helpfull!!!!!

A good friend of mine has the sidekick and loves it -- doesn't love the service though. It looks as if the key features of the SideKick are the IM and keyboard.

Yes, but it will require a software purchase. You can get AOL IM for the the Treo 650, but I'd highly recommend VeriChat.

You probably don't need more than a 1GB, but you could go up to 2GB. We offer SD Cards in our store. You can also find them at your local Best Buy, etc.

Yes, you can check mulitple POP accounts with the included VersaMail programs. There are other more robust email applications such as SnapperMail - but not necessary.

I wouldn't say there are any "neccessary" programs. The Treo 650 is quite capable out of the box. (save for IM which as I mentioned you should look at VeriChat). There are few nice utilities such as Butler which are inexpensive, but very useful.

Does the SideKick have Bluetooth? If so, check the compatibility of your existing Bluetooth Headset with the Treo. If not, then plan on getting a Bluetooth Headset so you don't have to deal with wires.

thanks alot for those answers that helped me out alot. i thought i had saw an aol messanger already installed on a treo 650 befroe but i could be wrong? where can i look to buy that? that butler program is very neat. also i would like to do crazy thigns on my phone such as mp3 player , dvds, etc. what programs are the best and how much are they?? i have read all the posts on the board so i think i have alot of ideas but just wanna make sure..

and it looks to be that iw ill spend about 500 for the phone 100 for the bluetooth earpice and like another few hundred on programs huh?

hey also does it matter between a 30 dollar bluetooth earpice a 60 dollar earpice or a 100 dollar earpiece?? i can understand that the sound quality might be alot better but does it affect reception ?? i mean the cheap ones still have 8 hours talk time,,,as well as the others??? also i figured out that with verichat you can check aol mail and use AIM instant messaging.

ALSO if i buy an extra 256 mb card with that + the internal memory in the treo will i have enough to run the treo comfortably or should i just get the 1 gig card?? i really have no comparison to use for memory???

i do want a program that i can run mp3's and dvds..is there a program that does both or buy them seperate? also i dont want keep all the dvds on there,,if i could i would like to d-load a dvd watch it on a trip then delete it???
