New member, 1st question

Hi all,

I have been loitering around the 650 and 700 forums for several months now learning about these devices in anticipation of getting a Treo when my Sprint contract expires and I have some leverage for getting a new phone/pda. My intention was to get a 700p, however, my company just purchased a bunch of 650’s from Cingular and is sending me one that I will receive tomorrow. I have been a palm user for years and currently synch my Tungston E with outlook on my personal computer. I just spoke with our network administrator who set up my phone and he told me that my new 650 will automatically synch with the company exchange server and that I should not attempt to synch with my personal pc. He said that my only option is to import my personal contacts and calendar into the company version of outlook. I do not want to do this but would like the convenience of not carrying 2 palm devices. Is there a way to do this?

You should be able to sync with both your work and home computers with no problem, as long as the correct version of Palm Desktop's installed on both machines. For the sake of your contacts, calendar, you may want to set the conduits on one machine or the other to "do nothing" when you sync. That way, you won't get the dreaded duplicate of your entire address book or, worse, having the smaller one overwrite the larger (work, presumably) one. The drawback to this is you'll only have one calendar available on the Treo, if you don't want to combine the two.
