Default new program for speeding treo users?

I've got a suggestion for you programmers looking for the next best thing to program a Treo to do. A radar detector!!!!

I got the idea as I was driving the other day. Not that I got pulled over, but my Treo sits on my dash (with an egrip it stays in place and doesn't slide around). I started thinking....there should be software that makes it a radar detector!

Isn't there some ingenious 14 year old programmer out there with time on his hands, who can make it happen? Most of us have our Treos in our car with us, and out somewhere that could pick up a radar gun if the software was installed on it.....Think of the possibilities....a Treo can do pretty much everything else....change channels on a tv, be programmed to watch movies, time cook a 6 course meal...why not a radar detector?

ok....i'm not sure about the 6 course meal...but you get the idea.....if anyone can make it happen, I'm guessing you've got alot of Treo users all over this puppy.....

It would require hardware and software, so not that simple to do. The best you could probably do is develop a box to do the detection, and then send that information to be displayed on the Treo via a cable connection or Bluetooth. The implementation would be similar to how GPS is done with the Treo.

Perhaps, but with a radar detector you don't want to be a victim of the "master of none" part of the "jack of all trades" aphorism. I don't mind if my Treo's a mediocre camera if I mainly use it as a phone & PDA, but if my driver's license is on the line?.....

I think if some enterprising developer got it to be as good a radar detector as it is a remote control (3rd party software/gadgets withstanding) then local law enforcement will be very happy.

We can't win.... the fuzz could use "triangulation + timers + GPS signals" to notice a Treo going 100 mph down the local interstate... takes but a second or two to zero in, then....

Right! And we really can't win because the only way to avoid THAT would be to turn your radio off. What's the point of turning your Treo into a fuzz buster if you can't call from the car and brag about it?
