New Screen Dimming Problem

Have had my Treo 650 for 6+ months, and can't live without it. However, it has started this annoying little problem about 4 days ago. After 15 seconds (yes, I have timed it) the screen dims about 50%. When I tap the screen or KB it immediately brightens to 100%. Then 15 sec. later it dims again. It will continue at this brightness level (50%), if I don't touch the screen or KB until the power management feature sets in at 3 mins (this is the option I have set under Power Management) and it turns Off. I have not added any new software in over a month and I've tried a soft reset but the problem still exists. It's really annoying to have to keep tapping the screen to keep the brightness at 100% and like I mentioned this has only been happening for about the last 4 days. My carrier is Sprint.

I read the earlier searched the threads and didn't see a solution - but I'm new to your site so I might have missed it. Could someone help me and thanks in advance.....

I have the exact same problem that you have, same phone, service, etc..but after an hour it just worked, I don't know why and it's fine since.. I hope that doesn't happen again - it nearly scared me to death, I thought the light for screen was broken lol.

Thanks for your post. I just wonder if this could be an indication of future screen problems? I certainly hope not! To resolve the problem I did a soft reset and so far I haven't had the screen dimming occur again. Keeping my fingers crossed...

My Treo 650 has recently started experiencing this exact same problem. -Started about 4 days ago, and has NOT corrected itself! Symptons are exactly the same; dims to 50% after 15 seconds, and then looses all backlighting 15 seconds after that! Tapping the screen will bring everything back up to full brightness for another 15 seconds. This behavior is VERY annoying, and for the life of me, I can't figure out what's causing it. I have not installed any new software in the past month. Does anyone know what's causing this or, more importantly, how to fix it?!!

I don't know if this falls into the same category but when I turn my T650 on the screen immediately dims and the keyboard lights don't work. I have Zlauncher installed and I tap the menu key and I ajust the brightness to the highest it can go and then it's fine until I turn the Treo off then on again. So I don't know if it's just Zlauncher or my Treo. I know this is'nt any help I just thought I'd post whats been going on.
