Default New Treo 650 - can't use phone!

    Hi

I've been a Palm user for many years, and have just bought a (used) Treo 650.

It works fine, except I can't seem to use any of the phone functionality.

I've inserted the SIM, but whenever I try to do anything phone-related, the Treo says "Phone off - switch on?". I select yes, and, after the splash screen is displayed I get the error:

"No Power - Unable to activate the phone"

The phone is not locked to any service provider.

Any suggestions? I could well be missing something fundamental ...

    Regards

    Glenn.

Sounds like bad hardware to me. A bad or incorrect SIM would give you a completely different message, so you can rule out the SIM card. I'd return it. Could be the reason it was for sale in the first place

Thanks for the reply. I've got it working now; it wasn't bad hardware, just user incompetence - I was entering the SIM code, then pressing the green phone key rather than the center button or tapping OK. Once I actually pressed the right button, the phone activated, found the network and works like a charm.

D'oh! Funny how we look for something sinister or hidden, when usually it's something obvious we overlooked.
