 |  new treo user (used treo)- problem with sync hello- new treo user here... i have been using (and LOVING) the treo 650 for about a week now. i got a used unit, and ordered a hotsync usb cable from ebay (new, but not oem as far as i know). however, when i try to connect, it tries for a while and then i get the message "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again" and my computer says that the USB device is not recognized. Well, i checked my setup and tried again, but nothing changed. i downloaded the palm desktop from palms site also, but was unable to do anything with that to fix the problem. HELP ME!! thanks in advance. |

| same problem still (and nothing new showed up in "processes" when i clicked the Hotsync manager from the program menu as you instructed). also, computer still does not recognize USB device when i click the hotsynch button on the cable. |

| Is your computer older? Maybe thats it. or try restarting your computer....computers are stuipid. I know you said you checked the setup, but maybe try a different USB port as well. If that doesn't work...i would have to say make sure you have the most updated verson of palmdesktop. |

| tried different usb ports, just downloaded the software today, and the computer is not really old (dell inspiron 5150, windows xp pro, 3.16ghz or something... and keep it updated online with all the auto updates). any other ideas? (by the way, thank you...) |

| any more suggestions to get me sync'd for the first time? -i used palm desktop downloaded from the website (tried a couple re-installs) -tried multiple restarts -made sure 'hotsync.exe' was running when i tried any help is appreciated. thank you! |

| Does your PC give you the chime when the Treo is first connected? It could be that the USB cable is no good.
