I did some checking into my company email, just like y'all instructed me to. That is where the problem was. We have three different ways into our system, fiber, dsl and cable, and therefore three dns entries. Our dsl is down, therefore our dns entrie for that was causing a timeout. So if anybody else has problems where it works sometimes and doesn't others...that might be a case!
Again it works with both Versamail and Snapper...probably will stick with Snapper!
