newb question concerning firmware
hello. i just purchased a used 650 on ebay that i believe has 1.03. before i start setting it up, i just wanted to know if i can update it to 1.05(provided i can summon the courage to. the stories of "fryings" here have made me a little trepidatious.) or do i have to go to 1.04 first?
thanks for your help!

Don't Know. I would check out the palm site or call verizon (your carrier??) and make sure you follow the steps. There is a thread here warning you,to have it plugged into the charger during the update.

thank you plunker. would you perchance be able to tell me where i can find out what version i have through the phone? is there a particular screen i can pull up to check it out? thanks again.

im on cingular so it may be different but at the phone screen push the menu button to the right top of the 5way which will take you to the menu at the top touch option s go to phone info and touch and the phone info screen will give you your number your firmware version and software version
If you will go to palm.com and smartphone support you can click on verizon 650 and navigate to set up and support software and it should tell you whether you need to download 1.04 before you do 1.05 When I got my 650 it needed the updater and i skipped from I think 1.13 to1.17, but the palm site should be able to give you all that information on whether you can skip to 1.05 PLEASE READ AND PAY ATTENTION TO ALL THE THREADS REGARDING THE 1.05 UPDATE PROCESS you will save yourself some headaches (if you are lucky)

Sure, to find your version on the main screen press your menu button, arrow over to options, then select phone info. Your version should be there.
Oops! did not read the post above before I posted directions.:foot:
