    Default Newbie question

I'm trying to add extsion numbers to my contact list on my 650, how do you add them so they either dial themselves ie: a pause then 4 digits or at least so that the phone know the other digits when I touch that button. I hope this makes sense, please help if you can.

The only way to do it with the default software is to assign that contact to a Favorites button in the Phone app, and add the extension in the Extra Digits field for the Favorites button. Takephone is a popular 3rd party app that will recognize extra digits in your contacts if you just preface the extension with an "x" (ex. 123-456-7890 x 123).

You can set up pauses by using a commas.

... but I don't think there's a way to allow a second button press to dial the additional numbers. You just have to strategize and make the pause long enough (e.g. to dial your PIN when accessing your voicemail).

If you put them as Extra Digits in the Favorites button, you get prompted to press a button to continue. It works the same way with Takephone and numbers with an extension in them.

I didn't know it would let you wait and enter them. I have mine set to dial automatically.

The hard pause is good if you need to dial into somewhere that requires you to wait for a prompt before entering the rest of the digits. You can estimate the required pause using commas (I believe it's 2 seconds per comma), but that doesn't always work. IMO, it's a major oversight by Palm not to include a mechanism for entering a hard pause in a Contact number. Luckily there are 3rd party apps to correct this.

Excellent! I'm happy to stand corrected.
