noob... please help...

Hello guy... I just got a treo 650 and I am trying to install zlauncher via my sd card.. i have been searching and cant find that really helps me. PLEASE HELP!! I dont have a data cable or install cd.

Do you have a card reader? If so, then you need to install in the /Palm/Launcher folder a file management utility such as FileZ - it works wonders.

Next - copy over the files from the ZLauncher ZIP file to a folder in the root directory on the SD card called something like: MiscFiles and copy only the ZLauncher files to that folder.

Next - place the SD card in the device.

Next - search the default launcher for the FileZ application.

Next - start FileZ and tap the "View and Edit Files" icon, then tap on the triangle to the left of "Card."

After that, tap on the triangle to the left of MiscFiles and that will then display the contents of that folder.

Next, tap each of the files to be copies, which is all of them and after you get the check mark displayed after each file, press the options button to obtain the Item drop down list and select COPY and then tap the triangle to the left of Internal and that will then copy them to the device main memory.

After that, exit FileZ to return to the default launcher. Press the "z" key to go down to ZLauncher and tap ZLauncher to start the application.

Now, there is only one file in the ZLauncher application that can reside on the SD card and that file is called ZLManager. What I recommend doing is moving it to the card via ZLauncher's short cut creating routine.

Again, ZLauncher has to be in main memory in order to operate and there is an option in its preferences to make it the default launcher. The current release is 5.44.

If you do not have a card reader, buy one. It will come with a USB cable that connects to your desktop. Doing this via Blazer is a multi-step thing that is a pain.

do i just copy the zlauncher.prc file? over or all the files from that zip file

casue i copied the .prc file over and i got an error that says "no avaliablethere for this device please install a suitable theme for this device (like zlt_aquawoodxp_hi_64k.prc)

You really need to read the documentation - I enjoy helping; however, there is no reason why anyone needs to give detailed information because someone just does not want to read the documentation.

You gotta install a suitable theme and then select the suitable theme and you just gotta put all of the files in main device memory and you just gotta install jpegLib.prc to use jpg's as backgrounds.

The files to install: ZLauncher.prc, a theme from the Theme folder.

Optional: Plugins - ZReaderLite.prc.

If you want to use JPGs for backgrounds, then you gotta install JpegLib.prc.

If you want to install ZLManager.prc - put it on the SD card in /Palm/Launcher.

ZLauncher creates a directory on the SD card where background pics go - the path of it is /Palm/Programs/ZLauncher/BackImage.

The sound function has a bug.

would you mind reccomending a good utility that would assist in changing the volume, ringtones, alarm. I know there is a good all in one but there are so many and i dont know a relaible one. Thanks agian
