Not Happy with 650, doesn't teather
I am switching from a Blackberry to another PDA and I thought the 650 was going to be perfect but once I got it and set it up I find that it will not teather as a modem to my laptop on verizon so I can get on broadband access when on the road with my laptop like I did with the Blackberry. So now I have a phone, charging cradle for the truck, data cable, charger and two cases and can't do what I want. How disapointing, I guess I need a 700P or even a Motorola Q to do what I want. I guess I could start the selling all the 650 stuff and the Blackberry and start the switching process again...
Have any of you had a Q, I don't use the PDA to edit docs or anything and that Black Q looks cool but it looks like I could pick up a 700P or the Black Q for about the same although I think the treo feels more solid. Oppinions Please?
Thanks

Feel free to email me if you have a Q or 700P around you want to get rid of or trade.

I own both the Treo 700p and the Moto Q. There are advantages to both, but in the end it's personal preference. The biggest difference for me is the interface with the Treo having a touch screen. The Q is thinner, but it's also wider. The battery life on the Q is not on par with the Treo, but there are fixes to increase usage. A large number of Q users get the extended battery. You can use the Q to tether to your laptop (and the Treo). PDANet is very well thought of here at Everything Treo and over at Everything Q.
I wouldn't say one feels more "solid" than the other. I do really like the build quality of the new Treo 750. Still yet to be announced, it's no secret that a Palm OS Treo is on the horizon with the same form factor/build, but that will likely release with Sprint. I absolutely love the keyboard on the Treo 750.
Overall, the Treo 700p is an easier smartphone to use. I attribute this to the Palm OS and it's a 5th generation product. There have been complaints of lag/bluetooth issues, but Palm is scheduled to release a firmware update at the end of the month. The Q is damn good product, very good as a phone and easily customized. The Black Q you referenced also features the rubberized coating found on the Treo 750.
I'd recommend a trip to your local Verizon store and play around with the two. Both are very capable, but it comes down to preference.
Good luck.

Great. Glad I could help. As you now, the 700p will give you EVDO for faster data connections.
