Default NoviiRemote Blaster for Treo 650

    Has anybody used this?

I'm going to have to order a bunch of stuff from the Store in a day or two and I was thinking about adding this to the list.

It's a great app however the IR output of the Treo is not very strong and you would most likely need to get right on top of the device that you wanted to control for it to receive the IR command.

    Edit...
Sorry I was thinking about an earlier app that they had. I just saw a review on this and it does look pretty cool.

    Hunter,
How did you find the remote blaster? Anyone else use it?

Thanks Chris! Sometimes you get so into reading the forums, you forget there's a main page!
    Excellent review!
Sadly, I don't think it's for me

If you're in the market for a remote, check out the Harmony (now owned by Logitech) brand of remotes. You can find them online cheaper than at the Best Buy's of the world. It takes a little way to configure them, but they are awesome. You sign up for an account and then set up your devices online -- then connect the Harmony to your computer using a USB cable.

I have the 659. The buttons on the 688 are a little bit too close together for me. I prefer the hard buttons of the 659. The new one, the 880, which has a cradle so you don't eat up batteries. What's great about the Harmony is that "everyone can use it". It uses simple buttons like "Watch TV" -- now, at my house that means switch the Sony to Input 7 (Direct TV), change the Onkyo to V1 (digital audio from Tivo), and the main controls for this button are set up for DirecTV Tivo. Normally, that would be 3 remotes -- with the Harmony -- One Remote. One Button. It's really an intelligent remote.

I believe Buy.com has good prices -- but make sure you buy from an authorized dealer in case you have problems. I paid $150 or so for the 659 - it's come way down in price.

Nah, the regular Tivo remote and a universal are working okay for now. You know how it goes- anything that can add more wow to your Treo. The Harmony looks really great...however, unless it comes with the ability to service the car, file our taxes and do laundry I can't see the hubby going for it!

Nah, I forgot to buy it. And, it looks like Chris only have it 1 star. Doesn't sound like something I want to try.

Rather than using the Treo to control the TV you're right in front of, a much cooler use would be to control your TV from a remote location. The closest I ever got to that was logging into Tivo's website from my Treo and scheduling a program to record when I realized I wouldn't get home on time to set it up.
