I have recently bought aTreo 650 and have a Vodaphone UK GPRS service. I have set up Versamail and can receive but not send emails. I can use the web browser to surf the net.
I can't get the correct combination of password and username on the set up page. For username, I've tried 'web' and my virgin.net email account name.
Can anyone provide an insight into what the prompts username and pass word are looking for?
I vave recieved two error messages depending on the password and username input. ERR (auth) invalid user or password and on connecting to SMTP server535 invalid user ID or password.

1. Some service providers require that you use the entire email string as the username:
e.g. foo@mail.virgin.net. The smtp server may be thinking that your are a spammer since it could not authenticate your login. Check the ESMTP preferences/settings.
Also, check for correct spelling and case sensitivity.
2. Some providers require SSL authentication for outgoing mail.

4. Another option is to use a free email service like Google Mail (gmail) and have your email forwarded to gmail on your Treo 650.
