    Default Palm Desktop -> Mediaplayer 9 !!??

    Hello all together! I have a problem to solve and i hope someone can tell me or help me with this thing ! After i installed the Palm Desktop freshly everything offcorse worked fine, up to the area "Media" ! Everytime i start this section in the Palmdesktop it opens an Window telling me before i can play or handle Videos i have to install Windows Mediaplayer 9 from the Palm Software cd under the Additional Software and then restart Palmdesktop again ! So the first think is that there is no Windows Mediaplayer on the hole CD, so i was so clever to download the Windows Mediaplayer from the Microsoftside and installed it, after rebooting of the computer it seams that the new Mediaplayer is running fine, but when i open know the Palm Desktop and start the Media area it still comes this Errorwindow telling me to install Windows Mediaplayer 9 and so on.......
    Can someone pleas help and tell me whats going on, or do i have to live with this to wait everytime i start media arround 20 seconds up that this errormessage dissapirs and the media section is usable !?

    Thanks

    I don't think the treo will play windows media files period. I have tried tcpmp to play them but there is not a plug in for windows files.

    O.K. ! But what hase then the Errorwindow what is for shure created from within Palm Desktop to do with Mediaplayer and why do i have to install Mediaplayer 9 (i had before version 7 on) and why dose Palm route me to ther Palm Installations CD to Install from the folder additional Software !?

    I don't understand this at all then when it will be not compatible with Windows but it is asking me for that, even that i had to install before Direkt X on !?

    It is anyway not going so to the video funktion (is anyway not good quality) but the problem that ich have to wait good 20 second everytime when entering in media is bad !

    This is indeed an unusual problem. Which version of Windows Operating System is on your computer? Since upgrading to Windows Media Player 9, have you tried re-installing palm desktop? For video, save as file type ".avi" for best overall compatibility.

    flashmind:

    I do not use the Palm Desktop nor do I use the Media function. To transfer meda I use a reader and an SD card. However, I sensed your frustration in your PM so I tried to do a little research for you.

    There isn't much that I found, but on the Palm site, take a look here:
    http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/me...id=197457#M930

    Seems to be the same symptoms you have so you may wish to try installing the very latest version of Quicktime. What that has to do with Windows Media Player and why you get the warnings I do not have a clue.

    BTW, you should answer Robert's question about the operating system you are running. I saw a bunch of postings regarding problems with running Windows Media Center.

    I hope this helps, but I can't offer any other insight or help with this problem.
