Default pause for dialing extension

I had a Sanyo cell phone, I was able to add a pause for dialing a phone extension, during one touch dialing. Can, and if so, how do you add a pause for dialing a phone extension?

Here's how to set up a Favorite with the extra digits, pauses and more.
  1. Press Phone (Treo 600) or Phone/Send (Treo 650).
  2. Use the 5-way navigation control to access the Favorites screen. On a Treo 650, press Down until the screen fills with Favorites.
  3. Choose a blank button, and press Center. If the page is full, keep pressing Right to scroll to the next page of Favorites. There are 5 total pages of Favorites.
  4. From the Types pick list at the top of the screen, choose Speed Dial.
  5. Enter the Favorite:
    • Existing contact: Choose Lookup. Start typing the last name of the contact as it's stored in your Contacts list. Choose Add.
    • New number: Type a Label for the contact, then press Down and enter the number.
  6. (Optional) Enter a Quick Key. When you are in the Phone application, you can press and hold the Quick Key to instantly dial the number.
  7. Choose the More button.
  8. In the space for Extra Digits, enter the sequence of numbers to navigate through the menus and passcodes. Enter a comma (,) for each one-sencond pause you want.
  9. (Optional) Check the box for Dial Extra Digits Automatically. When the call is picked up on the other end, your Treo will immediately begin dialing the extra digits. Otherwise, you can choose the Extra Digits button manually when it appears on the screen (after the call has connected).
  10. Choose OK.
  11. Choose OK again.

Default a DA solution for extension dialing

Hi, my friends,

When I found that my Treo cannot do the trick of dialing extension numbers, I was very annoyed. I've tried ShSh's solution, but I hated the lack of seamless integration (while dialing, the form switch from TakePhone to Phone, and back to TakePhone afterward). I try to come up with a DA (desk accessory) solution, which you can find at http://yinglienlee.googlepages.com/. Please send me you comments if you find it useful or not useful. Thanks!

The seamless integration is not there because TakePhone does not duplicate the function of the default dialer. It enhances, not replaces. The application you mention appears to be a take a bit of effort. TakePhone's calling card feature is straight-forward.

I just want to say that I just followed these steps on my 700P and it works like a charm!

Calling out of work just got easier!

Thanks plunker.

The only downside is that the default dialer app won't do a hard pause, so if your call takes longer than expected to connect, it might dial the extra digits before the remote system is ready to accept them.
You might want to check out TakePhone, mentioned earlier in this thread. It offers hard pause (tap a button on the screen to dial extra digits), as well as a host of other features like dial by photo, calling cards, location-based dialing, etc.
The developer has excellent support as well.

That's good to know. Thank you. So far, the only numbers I have to dial work pretty well with the default dialer. But TakePhone has been bookmarked.

I appreciate it.

I just tried this on my new 755p and it doesnt seem to recognize a #. Does anyone know if this is possible? Also, it seems that the numbers have to be recorded as favorites as you cant access the additional numbers from the contact screen itself.

That's correct. The only way to do a pause with the default software is by using Favorites.
I use TakePhone, but I don't have any issues dialing #.
