Phone doesn't work.

I got a US Cingular 650 off e-bay, and I’m really happy with its features. Well, all but one.

I can’t make phone calls. If I try, I can connect to a number, and start talking. But after 10-30 seconds I drop who I’m speaking with. However the counter keep running, as if I’m still talking to them. The phone will then either lock up, or shut off.

I can still send text messages.

The phone is a Cingular, but I don’t have a Cingular account. I have a Canadian carrier that supports the 650. Do I need to pester Cingular to unlock my phone? Will it be a problem using a Cingular phone with another carrier? Is this problem related to something else?

The cingular radio stack set may not be working exactly with the Rogers seetup You might want to use an unlock service off of ebay to truly unlock it. Mine ebay 650 was supposed to bve cingular but was in fact ATT when I got it and I unlocked it and then flashed with the Cingular 1.17 update. You might check that out but think about and read the threads in this forum about the ups and downs.
