Phone not working, PDA still does

I am new to the treo and was updating from 1.03 to 1.05 verizon upgrade when my phone started to go into "loops", reset it and now it turns on and all but the phone part will not turn on. When I hold the power button to turn it on it comes up with the verizon welcome splash screen then reboots.

I have reset it and hard reset it but no hope at all

I had this happen with my Treo 600 back when I had cingular. I had to hard reset without my SIM card, start it up, insert SIM card, and then start up the phone, and for some reason it worked. Since Verizon is CDMA, though, you might try calling them and making sure your phone is still configured correctly with your network.

It probably is a configuration problem - I had one with I updated my 650 and a phone call and 15 minutes later it worked. Ben

I have spent half the night online trying to do resets and cant get it to do anything. It either loops continually, or when I try to sync with my computer it goes to the lovely colored bars.

I really really need this phone to be working! HELP! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

need more info. You reset and the phone will work until you sync? then it starts looping? If this is the case you may want to only sync certain items at a time until you find the app that is causeing the reset. Versamail caused some resets with my treo with a couple of e-mails.

Well, after being on the phone with verizon technical support for over a half an hour they reluctantly are sending me a new phone. Thanks for all your help in such a short period.:tounge:

If you have a crash that results in a hard reset, you are better off not syncing the data in the backup folder to the device - doing so just might put you back in the "crash" mode. One-by-one installation is the best way to start off and of course, make backups every day...
