    Default Phone resetting by itself

Hello all, I'm a new Treo owner, and on a handfull of occassions, my phone just resets itself: turns off and on. I've never seen it turn off, just heard the "alert" for it turning on. Anyone else ever have this issue? Is this normal, if not, is there a fix? TIA.

Have you installed any third party software on your phone? Either way do a soft reset on your phone.

Remove battery cover and use your stylus to press the little button to the side of the battery in on the phone. The phone should reboot from there.

    Default Normal

If you talk to anyone about resets they will tell you it is common for a treo(palm OS) to reset every so often. Now if it is resetting a couple times a day that is not normal. But if it happens a couple times a week don't worry about it.

Treo's are quite an impressive and frustrating phone. I have decided to go without 3rd party aps completely. The resets are too annoying to me. I am entering something in and all of a sudden it quits on me.

I have just come to the realization that this phone is not to be used with more programs in it. Maybe thats why it has only 32 megs of ram. To discourage enhancing it.

Since I have gone without 3rd party installs, my phone has not reset once. I need to see if the 700w has these same issues. I used to have a jornada way back when (pocket pc pda), that never had any issues. I am already thinking about upgrading even though I have only had this for 4 months or so.

I think mine is equipped with a heat or motion sensor. It happens most when someone says, "Wow...that is a neat phone. Can I see it?" I show them a few features and boom...reboot. I then tell them it runs on windows 98. I would say windows 3.1 but I think that had more uptime than my Treo. lol

Thanks for this tidbit: I was unaware of this. Well, it appears that "phone" and "versamail" are the two culprits. This written, I deleted versamail b/c I wasn't that happy with it, but the phone resets at least once, usually 2x a day. Who knows, maybe more when I'm asleep. This can't be good can it?

Well, it was happening a little too frequently for my taste. I ended up doing a hard reset, and place most of my 3rd party apps on a card. I'll wait and see how it goes.
