Phone won't alert me to new voicemail

I have a treo 650 and until recently everything was fine. Then suddenly, it will not inform me when I have new messages. I was wondering why no one was leaving any until I decided to check them for the heck of it and there were 6 new IMPORTANT messages waiting. I called Cingular and they said everything was fine on their end, which may mean nothing.

I have tried turing the phone off and back on, a hard reset by removing the battery, and emptying my mailbox entirely and starting from scratch. Nothing seems to work. The phone used to let me know with an alert and the little tape recording symbol in the upper left hand part of the screen. It still notifies me of missed calls, just not voicemail.

Any ideas? This is a drag. Thanks in advance.

I cant provide a solution to your problem. Mine is somewhat similiar in the fact that once I receive a voicemail, I get the indicator letting me know one has arrived. Every voicemail after that, it doesnt notify me; I happen to know how many I have when I dial it.

Funny this should be posted. I noticed yesterday that I am not seeing the flashing asterick that I used to when a voice mail is left. I thought it may have been a user setting that I screwed up, but I don't see any way to access the notification to turn it off or on.

I do have the envelope with a horn on the right side, but the flashing asterick was more noticible.

Who is your cellular company? Cingular by any chance?

Rest assured you are not the only one.. I have that same problem as well although my asterick comes up sometimes.. Sounds like a problem that needs to be reported.

I've got the same thing going on with my cingular phone, but i'm not the only one. my wife and friend with cingular, not treo's are having the same problem. let me know if anyone figures anything out...
