Default Phone won't stay on!

I just got my new Treo 650 from everythingtreo.com with Cingular. The palm stays on but the phone (Cingular) keeps turning off so I can't recieve or make phone calls. I keep turning it back on but after 2-3 minutes it just turns itself back off again. It even turns off if I'm on the web or on a phone call. It's really irritating me. WTH? How do I fix this?

Default A soft reset often cures issues with Treo 650

Try a soft reset. Remove the battery cover and press the tip of the stylus where it says "reset". This resets the Treo and often cures small problems. If the problem persists, you can try a hard reset. If you have data, you will not lose it with the soft reset.

I have a game on there.... a demo I downloaded from the palm site. Trade Winds...

I also did the Sync on my mac and I think it installed some of that stuff.

Just did the "soft reset" I'll see if it works... I'll know in a few minutes.

I hope everything continues to work for you.

In the event that it doesnt, hotsync and then do a hard reset; but restore nothing at that time. Rename your Palm folder to something else (Palm_bak) and now do another hotsync. You can still use the HSID you originally choose for your device; it will just create a new Palm folder for you.

For about a day, run your device clean; no 3rd party apps. If it starts shutting off on you again, get it replaced.

If it doesnt turn off, you can start by putting 1 or 2 apps back on and see what happens. One of your apps may be the culprit.

Installed some of what stuff? Your post didnt say whether or not you upgraded from one device to another. If that is the case, you may have something that is not compatible with the 650.

No this is my first time using a Treo or any kind of smart phone/PDA device. So I'm not pulling stuff from other phones.

It seems to be working okay, but I wonder if it is turning off when it loses signal... If so is there a way to fix that? (I read something about a problem with that somewhere)... and the room I was in has a very low signal.

I appreciate everyones help!

Default problem with treo 650 keep turning off?

I had the same problem I just got it fixed.....check your SIM card must likely its loos.... all you have to do is to take it out and add a somthing the back of the card to stop it from moving to much.

Default I had the same problem

Treo 650 phone went off multiple times per day. Turned out to be the sim losing contact.

Remove the sim "drawer" and make sure sim makes contact and there is no wiggle. A thin piece of paper should work.

It ended up being the SIM card tray... I actually called Palm One and they sent me a new tray card that works... no more problems here....

No way should i have to ghetto fix my phone for their faulty product... and especially for how much the dang thing costs...
