Default Please Help! Treo 650 Constantly Flashing Keyboard, Won't Turn On

    Hey everyone,

So the other day, I removed the battery from my Treo 650. Upon placing the battery back in my Treo, the "Palm One" loading screen appeared, the progress bar completed, and then it went to a blank gray screen. The keyboard's backlight is constantly flashing on and off and a tiny, thin black bar is also flashing across the top of the grey screen, horizontally. I've tried a soft, hard, and zero out reset, and none are working (on the Zero-out reset, I'm constantly getting the bootloader screen, which I understand is wrong, but I've seriously tried it like 20 times and I'm very sure I've been hitting the right buttons in the correct order ) If anyone has experienced this before, or has any advice, I would be SO grateful.

    Thanks!!!

Can I ask why you took the battery out originally, and is there any chance that some moisture got into the battery chamber at that time? I have seen some strange screen images that occur when moisture gets into the contact area of the battery chamber. If not that, it sounds like your treo is fried. Do you possibly have the insurance on it? You could take it by your service providers and they could check it out.

Default I had a similar problem

I had the same thing happen on my Treo 700p yesterday, also after changing the battery. Except that it only happened once.

My Treo 650 did the exact same thing after I dropped it today. Directly after dropping it, it was still on the phone application but the Center button wouldn't work. So I pulled out and replaced the battery to reset it, and that is when I got the behavior you describe.

I noticed on mine that the side rocker button also appeared to be jammed, as it was slightly off center and would not press down, and my few housing screws appeared rather loose. I tried to push the side rocker button back into place but could not, so I unscrewed the housing and relocated the rocker switch slightly to it's correct place. Then I pressed it all together more tightly than I think it had been before and put the housing back together and screwed it more firmly shut. When I replaced the battery and turned it back on, it worked fine. (whew!)

I don't know if it was rearranging the rocker switch or screwing things more tightly than fixed the problem. Either way, I think this suggests that the problem is more likely to be a hardware issue rather than the entire phone being bricked. Hope this helps, if you are still having the problem.

I had to use a Torx (star) T6 screwdriver head to get my screws out. It came with a fancier screwdriver set I got, but my cheaper sets (even the larger ones) didn't have that head in it.

Glad you got t fixed. If a key or the button is stuck it can or will disable features on your phone.. most users would have sent it off cussing the treo. Job well done
