Default Power button problem, please help! Treo 650

Hello

I have a problem with a power button! Everything is working just fine, but sometimes when I press red button the phone is off (black screen) and when I press once again the phone is not working. When that happens everybody can call me but my phone is dead. I can press reset button and it works fine. 3 or 4 times a day this happens. I bought new Treo and nobody can help me.

Can you explain your problem a little better? Are you are saying your phone is turning off, not your treo but the phone part? If the phone is brand new and you do not have any third party software I would sync to your pc, then do a hard reset. If the problem keep happens then I would return the phone.

The Treo is not a "multi-tasking" device. If you are in a signal challenged area, the Treo will take time to recognize and react to the pressing of a button. In addition, if the device has an application such as a mailer that is doing its mail thing, the device can take time to react to the pressing of a button. Background operation can at times affect foreground operation.

Phone is new but I think it is stolen. I do not have anything in him! I do not have even cradle, I can use bluetooth to sync and that works. Everything else work. Sometimes it is frozen by itself and only when I press red button or when keyguard is active after some time. When I speak or doing something everything is just fine. Do you people think that if I buy cradle and sync to pc that's going to work?

Probably not stolen because you have had the phone activated by a carrier. You might go to the palm site and get a manual for your treo. Hot sync with bluetooth is just as good via the cable.

I guess what we are asking is what exactly is your phone doing?/ The treo will time out and go to sleep and to wake it up you need to press either the red or green phone button. When the treo sleeps it still receives calls it just sleeps to save energy.

Yes, my treo go to sleep and that is ok but it is not waking. When I press the red button or the green one nothing happens. It is frozen until I do reset. When I call my number the phone is just blinking like alwayse and thats all.

Did you do a hard reset to clear any old info off your phone? Have you added any software to your phone?

If the phone is new I would return it or exchange it. This is strange (to me) but you can get insurance on your phone from your carrier (sprint is within one month) and it will cover your phone problem.

If you have not added any software clear off your phone by a hard reset. Then see if it works. If it does resync your phone with your pc and see if the problem is back.

I do not have any software on my phone and I have done hard reset a couple of times and nothing. I can not give it back because the seller don't want it back. I bought in some store without cradle, only handmade charger. It worked great before I bought it, but now....
Thanks for your help, I'll try something else, I am stick with this phone.

Going back to my post...sprint will let me insure a phone (no matter where I got it) if I get the insurance within one month of activation. Then insurance will cover it. There are repair sites on the net who may be able to help you repair it or send you parts if you are a do it yourself guy.
