System Tools or Repair Power On Messed Up When Activated.

OK. It's a Treo 650. When the phone is not activated with Verizon, everything that can work without activation works great. All software, buttons, commands, menus... everything.

But when I activate the phone, things go nuts. It will power itself off and will NOT go back on. In fact the only way to power the device back on when it is activated is to remove the battery and do a reset that way. (I can't use the reset button)

This is pretty odd and I haven't seen anything about it. Any ideas from the billions of expert users out there?

By the way, I know it's not batteries. Or charge level. The only thing that causes the problem is network activation. Which makes the device kind of an expensive notepad.

Help would be very much appreciated.

I am wondering if you have any kind of hacked ROM on your Treo. The only thing I can think of is possibly network settings not correct??? I am searching here, sorry, probably not much help . . . . . .

Would firmware be an issue? Is it new or did you buy it used?

Default I got it as an insurance replacement

Hi,

Yeah, this came to me from Asurion. They don't want to take it back. Say I've had it too long.

Anyway, if it is firmware, what do I do about that? Take it to Verizon?

Thanks for your response.

Neal

I believe Verizon might have an update to your firmware if not just reinstall it. It might help. Have you done a hard reset?

Default I'm missing something

I've done several hard resets and that didn't help. When you say re-install it, is that the CD that came with the Treo?

Thanks
