| Problem adding software Ok everything was working fine prior to two weeks ago. Now when I connect my treo through the usb port, it connects fine as the sounds and logo come up on my screen, but now when I click the hot sync button nothing happens and I can't transfer anything. Help? |

| Have you tried another USB port? Normally uninstall/reset the computer/reinstall the Palm Desktop takes care of this. Also, take a look at the log and see if there is an error message.

| I have to unplug and reconnect my cable for the commuter to start the sync every once in awhile.

| Commuter cables often wear out or get dirty. Even computer cables wear out or get dirty. Once in a while a commuter USB port needs cleaning. Ben

| This thread has become like the game "Telephone."
BSos32, try this: first plug in the USB and of the cable, wait a bit, then plug in the Treo end of the cable and wait a bit more. Couple of minutes. The idea of trying to clean the contacts is a good one, but even with a new computer and cable I have had to resort to this procedure on occasion.

| There are timing issues on some older computers when it comes to using the USB port. Ben

| I read a post here at ET that said Palm recommended that you use the rear usb ports in laptops and desktops as the voltage ws more consistent than the front ones which are like an external hub. I dion't know if this would apply in your situation but thought it might be of help |
