Problem being recognised as mobile device - Treo Forums

Hi

I have a Treo 650 which I sync over USB using Palm sync and this works fine. I added Pocket Tunes and want to sync it with my Yahoo Music Engine but problem is that neither the Yahoo Music Engine or Windows Media Player recognise the Treo as a mobile device. The support at Pocket Tunes assured me that it does work for them so I wonder if this is a problem specific to my 650. I tried swapping USB cables but this made no difference. Also I do see mobile device in Windows explorer but when I click on it it just has an empty folder?

Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

Is this a new SD card that you have? If so, you might need to format it in your Treo first so that you get a folder called 'Music' on it.
How does the Yahoo program transfer the music? Is there a desktop component or are you just using a cut and paste to move each song over?

This is a known issue for normsoft and pocket tunes. It does not get recognized. Whats the solution ?

One solution would be to get a card reader at your local electronics store (roughly $15-20), which you could then use to drag-and-drop items onto the card. That would give you the added benefit of speed....much faster than trying to sync music or other media.

I have a card reader and music transfers are blazing fast but it does no good when combined with pocket tunes and music subscription services like yahoo music and rhapsody music to go.

Sorry, I think I jumped on the wrong issue. If I'm understanding right, you're actually talking about not being able to play yahoo or rhapsody music? If that's the case, I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. For lack of a better solution, I've taken the songs I really wanted (and couldn't convert due to licensing), burned them to cd's, uploaded them back onto the computer, then put them on my card.
