Default prog to ID a song

Guy, my coworker has a new cingular phone that has a software built in that allows him just to have the phone hear a song and it gives you the artist, song and album, is there such a program for the treo? so many times i'm driving in my car and I hear a song I like but they never give the name or artist so I could never find it, this would be a nice add't to have.

I think I'd have to agree. If it's working fairly quickly, it must be comparing the music to a database integrated to a built-in app, which (I'm guessing) would need to have that song in it.

I think it comes down to where you get the music. Off the net you can get titles and pics of the cd. Then your device must be capable too. My daughter has a car streeo that when ipod through fm transmuitter shows her all the song info on her stereo display. I believe alot of the media players have settings when uou play a song on the computer will go get info so you will have it if you burn a cd or load an ipod.

Thats all true but we dont have that capability right now in any treo but it would be nice if there was palm os program to do that maybe an addin to one of the players, and if one did it the rest would probably follow.

I went and reread the first post. I have never heard of any program or device that can "hear" a song and give you the info. Realplayer displays titles and I believe so does TCPMP for music you download. Is that what you meant or are you talking about streaming audio?

I am sure he meant the device displayed the name of the artist and perhaps the title of the song and how long the clip or song was. But maybe I assume too much.
