Program names

I searched around for 5 minutes then ended up at this community which looks pretty cool. I recently upgraded from a Palm T5 to a Treo. I would like to change the names of some programs on the Apps screen.

I was able to do this on the T5 but it doesn't work anymore so I can't go back and see how it was done... how can I do it on a Treo?

Just to rephrase... Like on the main home screen where all your programs are listed, say I wanted to change "Calendar" to just "Cal" (just an example).. How would I do this?

You can't do that from the native launcher.
There are 3rd party launcher replacements that will allow you to change the names.
I use LauncherX.

By the way, is there a way to create shortcuts to appls. E.g. enclosed
