SIS files - I believe those are Symbian files - an emulator is needed - though no guarantee of that.

ZIP files require a utility to unzip them - Resco Explorer is one of a few - http://www.resco.net/palm/explorer/default.asp.

Try a card reader instead of the hot sync or try Pilot Install or one similar to it.

i dont have a problem unzipping it. im trying to use the programs on my tero. i downloaded them to my pc and im trying to get them to work on my treo and ive read several places that theres not hot sync program or some that will work with vista yet ive tried to use the xp verizon but it wont install. my understanding was i just had to download them to my pc then put them on my sd card and insert it into my phone so i could use the programs on my phone but i guess i was wrong lol. ive heard talk about converting the .zip to .jar to get it to work but im not sure any information would help thanks

The standard hot sync does sync, just not the quick sync we are use to. If the application is a Palm application and you place it in the /Palm/Launcher folder, it will run. Most of the zip applications for the Palm OS do not recognize anything other that the ZIP format.

As a note, I use Bluetooth exclusively and a freeware application called Pilot Install - it handles installing to the device and the card. The link for Pilot Install is http://www.envicon.de/e/pinstall/pinstall.html.
