Default Provider with Great National Coverage

    Hi All:

I travel a LOT & was curious which provider the forum would recommend for National service. I have my cell service with Verizon right now, but really really want that 650 when it hits the market.....(and it's not looking as if Verizon is going to be getting it any time soon). :D

    Thanks!

I also travel quite a bit with work. I currently have Cingular for my personal cell service and I use AT&T through work. Previous to Cingular, I had Sprint. I had heard horror stories about Sprint's customer service, but I could not have been happier. Sprint's service was great and I never had an issue with customer service. When my contract with Sprint was up, I did give them a shot to offer me a fair deal on the Treo 600. I was surprised they would let me go without matching the offer I got with Cingular. That aside, I go with Sprint any day of the week. I might even jump from Cingular when my contract expires on my 600. I thought Sprint's coverage was fantastic when travelling and was much better than AT&T. I always had coverage wherever I landed...because I would check my email the moment I landed.

Wow, Chris - you sound like me!

I live in the Seattle area & the coverage maps don't look as if driving to Boise or San Fran is going to give me a lot of coverage. Did you ever visit / drive to any of those places? What were your experiences?

The closest I've been to those areas would be San Jose. To play it safe, I'd suggest talking w/ friends who are local. That's probably your best bet. If you decide the coverage is sufficient, then the other factors are all positive w/ regards to Sprint. Plus, they will most likely be the first to release the Treo 650!

Default Need Help with Provider in New York

I am thinking about buying a Treo 650 - 1st time upgrade to combo phone/palm - but currently have Verizon. Since Verizon just started offering Treo 600, I agree that they will not offer svc on Treo 650 for a long time.

Any advice on cell svc for NY? Any other providers besides Sprint for 650? Thanks for help.

Verizon will, of course, get the Treo 650 - eventually. After much 'shopping,' I've decided to stay with Verizon because I travel the country quite a bit & they are the only provider out there with such extensive coverage. After checking, they will even 'switch my phone' from my Treo to my old tri-mode handset and back again - free of change - if I know I am going to be driving through analog-only areas. Although the device is undoubtedly the coolest thing since sliced bread, what good is a smartphone if you can't use the phone portion? Just my 2 cents....your needs may be entierly different.

    Have a great evening!
