Push Email for Treo 650?
I tried a blackberry out the other day and was very interested with the Push-Email. I kind of just never thought about it before.
I use my Treo 650 with T-Mobile and noticed BlackBerry Connect. Does this work with VersaMail and T-Mobile?
What other apps are there that will get the job done? Thanks!

ChatterEmail - two IMAP accounts (one on-line, the other forwarded to the on-line one), three POP accounts. It works. Ben

Yeah I grabed the trial version, easy to set up. However I enjoy the look and feel of VersaMail... is there anything besides Blackberry Connect that will do Push email for it?
What if I have my Palm sync my e-mail every 15 minutes? What will that do? Thanks!

VersaMail 2.5!
NEW! Stay on top of your life with automatic message retrieval and notification. Tell VersaMail how often you want it to check for new mail, and it will automatically download new messages. (This feature not supported on Tungsten W handhelds)
Is this Push-Mail?

To answer your question, no it is not push mail and further, nothing like push mail.
With push mail your email client (ChatterEmail rules in the POS world) logs on to your email provider's site and sits there waiting and waiting and waiting. When an email hits your email provider's site, the email provider passes it to your email client that is sitting there waiting to do something. When your email client sees the email from the email provider, it then becomes happy and tells you you have mail or whatever you have it set to do. It is fast and never needs polling.
I have ChatterEmail set to announce what client the email is from. Something like: "You have ChatterEmail" or "You have Fastmail" or whatever tickles the fancy.
Pop requires polling. Push requires a device that handles it and a provider that provides it. Love those provides.
The above is a very simple explanation.

I have chatteremail and 4 IMAP accounts (2 POP3 Accounts for a total of 6) If you have the ability to change any of your POP accounts to IMAP I would highly recommend it! From my IMAP server I usually receive my mail within 30 seconds of it being sent to me! That is not from the time it reaches the server, but from the time it is sent! I am totally with Ben on this one. Chatteremail and my Treo have changed how I manage email! I prefer this app with my Treo OVER my PC! I will actually reach for my Treo to check mail when I am sitting at my PC!! The cool thing about IMAP is since it is running from a server, you can build folders on the server and actually move and manage all your mail right from the Treo!
If you test drive chatter, it will allow you to set up an IMAP account through everyone.net. You will have a username such as fishera@emailtreo.com You will quickly discover the advantages of IMAP over POP3.

Since Sprint will send calls to voicemail when it checks email, will a push style email account still continue to do that while it connects to the email server?

I have yet had anything go to voice mail while using the Internet on my 700p. Chatter works totally in the background; the only way you know it is doing something is when the Treo "slows" down a bit when you are running an app or you are turning it on.
As for the desktop, I like an integrated program and use Seamonkey by Mozilla. It is interesting to see which one gets the mail notification - the Treo is as fast as Seamonkey. From the time it is sent by the user and hits the mail server (Fastmail and Everyone.net), well under thirty seconds. It is simply amazing. For work purposes, push mail is the way to go and Chatter is the big guy on the block.

Push - of course
OF course you can push email to the Treo!! As long as your carrier is Verizon Wireless, they will set you up with their free Wireless Sync app... which pushes emails to your Treo 24/7. I use it and it works great.

Cingular recently started offering the BB connect! I am sure it isn't free like V wireless however . . .
I liked Versamail's interface a lot when I first got my Treo. But it kept failing me. After about 2 weeks of using Chatter, with its summary screen for multiple accounts, different colors/ringtones/vibrations for those accounts, The ability to create folders and manage all my mail right from my Treo, all with the ability of push in a much more stable package. Well, lets just say, I really like Chatter much better than the Versamail app.
To the OP of this thread . . Its evident you have several options to obtain push email to your Treo, depending on Carrier, email service providers, email app, etc . . . .
