What do you mean 'keeps coming on'? If you mean the 'in service' alarm, yes that can be shut off. Go to 'Prefs', then 'Sound and Alerts', Application- 'phone', then choose 'Off' for 'Service Tone'.

    Default Question

While driving in the car I have noticed that the screen keeps coming on. I think its because I am going in and out of service. I dont hear an alarm, just the screen turns on.
So I was wondering if there was a way to stop it from doing that?

    Thanks

I don't think that's the cell service, although I may be wrong. I have seen mine do that occasionally, but since it was so seldom, never gave it too much thought.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

    Thank you anyway Georgepink.
I started noticing it at night because it has such a bright light.
I just hope it doesnt wear down the battery doing that.

    Thank you

Default Do you have a scheduled app running?

It could be that your phone is performing some scheduled function. For instance, I've got my Chatter email scheduled to check for mail once every hour. When that happens, the screen lights up for a minute. Do you have anything like that installed?

Your screen is probably lighting up when you are not in a good cell area, or not getting good reception. At least on Cingular, there is no way to disable this. This bug has been noticed by other users - you probably won't notice any loss of battery life. The instructions georgepink gave refer to turning off the tone, but I believe you are referring to the screen. I used to have this problem quite frequently (Cingular 650), but the 1.17 upgrade seems to have made this stop. It's annoying, but doesn't affect anything, really.

Thank you all for the information.

I havent had the 650 (Cingular) very long and I dont have any email working as of yet.
I havent done any upgrades yet either. So I guess its going to do that until I do.
I just wanted to make sure it wasnt going to use up the battery.

    Thanks again!!
