Question about batteries

My battery life was really bad so i purchased a new battery from Amazon and it seems to have the same problem still, the battery will go from 100% to dead in a matter of 4.5 hours with maybe only 10 minutes of use. Any suggestions or is it possible that i bought a battery that is also bad?
