question on cards
What kind of memory card do you guys recommend for the 650? I want to be able to toss all my MP3's and any downloadable clips that I get off the net on it.

Any name brand card should do fine. Of course the bigger the card, the more MP3's, Videos, ebooks, applications, pictures, etc you can put on it and always have it with you. That within limits of 2 gigs, as that is all the Treo will read . . . . .

If you're going to be transferring mp3s and video clips, you probably also want to invest in an SD card reader, or Card Export. This software lets your pc use the Treo's SD card as an external drive. It's much quicker than trying to hotsync large files.

Watch out if you buy on eBay. There are literally thousands of SD cards under names like Sandisk, Panasonic, etc that are fake/counterfeit.
Specially the ones that are "bulk" meaning they don't have retail packaging with the SD card.
Most of the eBay sellers don't even know they are selling fake SD cards. They work in a card reader, but do NOT work in the Treo 650.
I bought one a 1GB Sandisk SD card on eBay a month ago and sure enough a fake. I called Sandisk and they confirmed it was a fake based on serial number.
And it didn't work. Not recognized by Treo 650.

so other than buying on ebay, do you recommend a certain brand and/or model and/or site to buy them?
Are they available in retail stores?
Thanks,

Like Stillrockin said, any of the name brands should be fine. I like Sandisk, but PNY, A-Data, Lexar, etc. should be ok. Several retail chains carry SD cards, but you will most likely find the best deal online. I'd suggest checking out one of the price comparison portals like pricegrabber.com.

If you click on the Treo Store at the top of this page, you can buy there. Or any store like Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, etc has them. I use Sandisk personally but any will work.

If I wasn't going to buy online, but directly from a retail store, I would first Try Walmart! And Office Depot/Max sometimes has some really great buys WITHOUT Rebates. Circuit City/Bestbuy almost always requires about 1/3 more up front and then a rebate. I hate Rebates! So this goes for almost all of my electronic purchases. Even if I have to pay a little bit more, I will usually do so to avoid the hassle of removing a UPC code, filling out a form, mailing and then the wait to get that money back. I did do the rebate thing on my Treo, and I am still waiting for that one. . . I noticed yesterday, that this site had a 2 gigger for $99.00. I thought that was a fair price for the size, but I haven't priced any cards lately . . . .

77 bucks is very cheap for 2 gb. but if you want one right away walmart has 1 gb Sandisk cards for sale. Ive been to 3 walmarts in my area (im looking for 2 gb ones) and theyre selling 1gb sandisks at each walmart for 62 bucks.
I recommend Sandisk (ive yet to have a problem with this brand it worked good on my 600 and it works excellent on my 650).... Sandisk has been tested on treos and they work not to mention they have warrenties and such. careful with the cheaper brands if you go with em though cause your treo will crash.
if that one site is really selling 2gb sandisks for 77 bucks (and they aint bootleg?) i would go with that but as it is now im useing a sandisk 1 gb and i have 2 videos on it about 8 minutes each about 35 pictures and about 30 songs (mp3s) and i still have just over 800 mb left.
hope that helps ya.
