I have been browsing through this forum for a while and am finally decided to get Treo.

    I have a few questions.

    1. How is Treo and Cingular service in New York?
    2. Do anyone know of a good place to get a good deal to get treo? I found one at letstalk.com for $299 with 2yr service.

    thx

Check out cingular.com,they have been running at times a promotion for a refurbished treo for $139 w/2 year contract.Do you already have service with Cingular ?

I have no complaints, although I use my Treo primarily with T-Mobile service, also have Cingular service in New York with no problems.

Cheers-hope you enjoy the Treo if/when you get it.

I can't speak for NY, but in general, Cingular has a very large network, and fairly reliable service. Here in the hills of Tennessee there are very few spots where I will drop out. However, their CS leaves a lot to be desired, and their billing is hard to decipher. As far as my plan, and the service I get, I am very satisfied. But from the couple of times I have had to call them, I am already dreading the next time . . . . . .

That's an understatement. Half the time, the amount of data used doesn't even appear on the Cingular website. You just keep getting an "error" message asking you to check back in a moment. That's a joke. I also "like" how you can add services to your phone online but need to call in to cancel services. I also agree that their customer service is very spotty after the initial activation period.

I just dumped Cingular for Earthlink /Sprint PCS. I got a 17% corporate discount with Cingular but their service and coverage was so bad it is worth going to standard pricing with Sprint. I got my Treo 650 from Splash wireless for $69.99 after rebates and unlimiited data, email, mobile to mobile, roaming, long distance, nights and weekends free and 500 miniutes for 69.99 per month and 30 day no cancelation penalty evaulation trail. So far I like it but I am still getting used to navaigating through it. My wife has had her Treo 650 through Sprint for 8 months and it has worked well here in S Fla. INterestingly enough her treo works fine here at home but mine seems to have poor reception at the same location. Haven't figured thatout yet. best of luck with it.

Default Cingular and Treo in NY

I purchased my Treo from Cingular two weeks ago and have yet to be able to use email. After 30 minutes working with Cingular support staff at 5th flagship store on 40th st, he told me to call Cingular tech support using the support phone in the store. After 20 minutes with support staff on phone, I was told email hookup is an issue between my email service (I have three) and myself. I have AOL, mac.com, and our own company server email. I've set protocol, port numbers, etc. I don't think that's the problem. I think its more basic than that. Good luck. Any tips would be helpful.

I would think Sprint is available in NY. The plans are fairly good also.

I use sprint out here in the wild west. The service is very good in all the major cities so far. There are a few dead spots..but I don't think there is any service in those areas period.

Sprint and my e-mail provider work really well together so far.
