Any idea what I can do about RealPlayer sort of skipping or hiccuping when playing MP3 files? Seems to happen about every 8 seconds. Anyone else experience this?
Just a hunch, but have you tried encoding them at different compression levels?

Thanks. I just tried a song recorded at 320k bit rate - no skip. Must be compression related. Hope I can use something recorded at a lower bit rate than 320, though, or I won't be able to fit much on a 256 meg card.
At 320 bit rate, an album takes up about 125 - 150 megs, so even a 1 gig card only holds 6 or 7 albums. I'll try a lower bit rate.
One great thing about the Treo 650 is how fast it reads the card. My old Kyocera took about five minutes or more to figure out what was in the card and list the songs. The 650 does it pretty much instantly. Huge improvement.
