Default reception question

ok i've had my 650 for about a month and since the day i came home with it i cant seem to use it inside with out having breakup. before i had the 650 i had a Motorola Razor and it was perfect inside with no external anntena, and the 650 has an external anntena. is this normal or not. by the way i have Cingular.

thanks for the help.

I used to have a Motorola, the V551. Which is just like the razor. But my treo 650 has no problems. I have noticed that the treo doesn't get as good as reception, but i have never had it drop out, or break up, but because the treo doesn't get as good as reception as we like, it just might the the area.

Hard to say without knowing where you live versus Cingular's coverage area.
Here's a thread on determining signal strength. There's also an app called SignalMeter, developed by Shadowmite, which tells you your RSSI, a measure of signal strength.

I don't see it up on his site anymore, but it's freeware (non-commercial), to here it is. Good luck.
