Default Recurring HotSync Problem (New 650 owner)

Hello, perhaps someone could provide some insight to help me out. Bought a brand new Sprint Treo 650 about a week ago. Everything works fine except syncing with my PC (running Windows XP). It synced fine the first time, but since then I have to perform a hard reboot on the Treo just about every time I sync (and most of the time that won't even work). I get this error message, after about a minute or so of the Treo trying to connect with the desktop:

"The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again."

I tried rebooting the PC and turning the Treo off then back on and re-syncing and no luck. It only re-esablishes the connection when I hard-reboot the Treo, which causes me to have to reset my email account info and lose all of my prefs, plus it is simply annoying. I usually have to hard-reboot the Treo 1 to 3 times before I can get a sync.

Any ideas?

I am sure you will get better answers here...but I would do a hard reset, delete your palm software from your pc and reloading it ....that way your treo and pc will be all clean and new. You might have a bad file in there.

Did you add software after the first sync? If you did I would remove it and redo your basic install. Try a few syncs..if everything is OK add a program.

One at a time ...besure to check if you can sync between installs.

Plunker, thanks for your reply. Funny you should say that, I actually just finished doing everything you suggested, and along the way I discovered I still had Microsoft Activesync installed on my PC from back when I had an Ipaq PDA. So I uninstalled that, along with Palm, rebooted, reinstalled Palm, and SO FAR it's syncing just fine!

But now I seem to have ANOTHER issue (hopefully I just overlooked something). When I try to "get" mail on my Treo from Comcast I keep getting this error message:

"Unable to establish PPP connection"

I wonder what the hell I did wrong now. LOL
