Default Reference Guide for Treo 650 (Your Favorite Apps, Websites, Tools, etc. for the 650)

Howdy!

I'm new to the world of Treo, as I just got my 650 about 2 weeks ago.

I love this site and I have gotten some really useful tips and ideas on how to maximize my experience with my new phone/handheld. I'm interested in figuring out what everyone else uses to maximize their own Treo 650.

I'm sure something like this is out there and it already exists (probably on this board), but I thought I would try to get something started here that could act as a reference for other visitors to this discussion board.

I think the best way to do this would be to just post the questions, and have everyone answer them (or some of them, or whatever):
  1. What are your "most used" Palm Applications?
  2. What are your favorite Shareware Applications? What do the applications do and what do you use them for?
  3. What are your favorite Freeware Applications? What do the applications do and what do you use them for?
  4. What are your favorite Treo 650 websites (OBVIOUSLY - everythingtreo.com would be at the top of the list!)? What's so great about them?
  5. What one shortcut/hint/tip that you know about (and feel that others may not know) would be most useful for everyone else?
  6. What other questions should be added?
Since I'm new to this, I'm sure I'm leaving something out that should be included, so feel free to give me some ideas when you reply as well.

I look forward to seeing your answers!
Thanks,
Scotty Baseball

Default My two cents...

Scotty,

It really depends on what you need to do the most. For me, using my Treo as an ipod replacement or as multimedia unit holds no need for me. The reason I got a Treo was that I hated carrying around my Palm Tungsten and my cell phone. I wanted just one thing to lose!!! (smile). Plus for me and my business, I needed a calendar and address book available.

With that in mind...here's what I use everyday.

Agendus Pro -no big surprise here. I like the intergration of it. The mail program is not as powerful as it could be but it suits my email needs just fine. I like how Agendus interacts my contacts, with my calls, tasks and events. And I don't have to launch and relaunch programs.

Splash Wallet Suite - Here I store my passwords, account info as well as upload my financial transaction into Quicken on my computer. I can make lists and remind myself of things to purchase....books, music, clothes and even more software for my Treo. the Splash Wallet suite is 4 separate programs...Splash ID, Splash Shopper, Splash Money and Splash Photo. I use the first three and I have no need for Splash Photo but you never know!!!

Volume Care - Because it gives my speakerphone better control over sound and I can actually hear ringtones in noisy environments.

And the best tip I can give you....actually there are few of them.
1. Don't go crazy buying software for the Treo and always download the trial version to see if it's right for you!

2. Get an SD card. I got a 250mb card...Go for more storage like 1 or 2 GB if you can..especially if you are into audio and visual data.

3. Get a case! Whatever you prefer, just make sure it's functional and does a good job of protecting it because you will drop it...trust me.

4. Car charger. I charge my Treo every night but...you never know when you have a busy day and you need to recharge. I have a car charger in my car and use it quite a bit...REMEMBER, it's not a great idea to let the battery rundown, it's better to top the battery.

That's my two cents...ok so it's four cents. I just my Treo!!!
